Thailand Travel: Visa Considerations

The Kingdom of Thailand one of the world’s great tourist destinations. The Kingdom of Siam, today known as the Kingdom of Thailand, boasts of the worlds prettiest beaches and tasiest food. A great number of people who go to Thailand wish to remain for a long time. At times this can be complicated because of Royal Thai Immigration rules.

There are a number of visas available to foreign nationals wishing to enter Thailand. That being said, the amount of time that the visa will be valid depends on many things. First, a 1 year Thai visa is generally not granted in Southeast Asia. A possible explanation for diplomatic missions near Thailand being reluctant to grant one year visas is probably due to the fact that applicants in the past abused the system. However, some consulates and embassies will issue a one year visa pursuant to submission of an acceptable application.

Should a foreigner desire entry to Thailand for business purposes, then the Thai Business Visa is likely the most appropriate travel document. The visa for business purposes doesn’t confer an entitlement to employment in Thailand, but simply provides the bearer with the right to apply for a Thailand work permit. Employment permits are promulgated pursuant to approval by the Minstry of Labor in Thailand.

If one is thinking of staying in the Kingdom in order to be with family, then the Thai O visa is something to consider. The O on this visa stands for “other.” This travel document could be employed by those foreign nationals with Thai kin. It is something of a “miscellaneous” category. It may be possible to obtain a Thai work permit on this visa, the work permit application might be rejected due to the fact that the Thai Labor Ministry requires one obtain a Thailand business visa.

5 Important Travel Requirements that Everyone Overlooks

I’ve now worked as a travel rep. in the Costa del Sol for over 10 years and I have noticed how people can be very predictable. Every year people arrive here in Spain having overlooked the same things as those who have come before them. There are even people I meet every year who repeatedly forget the same things.

One of the most commonly overlooked holiday requirements is car hire. Many people expect the car hire firms will have the cars that they want when they arrive. Demand for hire cars during the peak weeks is very high and many people can find themselves dissatisfied when they can’t get the car that they want.

My suggestion is very simple and its likely to save you a good few pounds. Its a really good idea to book your car hire before you leave the UK. Booking in advance will not only mean you get the car that you want, it will also give you the best savings. Also, you stand a far better chance of getting the exact vehicle that you want. Always book in advance to avoid disappointment as this way you are more likely to get the car that you want.

Another key travel requirement that is often overlooked is travel insurance. Often this hasn’t been overlooked but instead of getting a policy that provides adequate cover the holiday-maker may have scrimped on a travel insurance policy that doesn’t include essentials like repatriation in the event of injury.

Be certain that you and your family are properly covered by your travel insurance policy. Adequate medical cover is particularly important if you expect to engage in any potentially dangerous activities like parascending, go-karting or dangerous sports. Working as a rep I’ve dealt with far too many people who have inadequate medical insurance. The cost of repatriation without travel insurance can be incredibly expensive.

Another thing that people tend to forget is an adapter for the Spanish power sockets. Most UK appliances, including hair dryers and telephone chargers, will run happily from the Spanish 220V AC supply. In Spain you need an adapter to accommodate the power outlets.

In the United States the supply is 120V AC so  most UK appliances will not work. Always find out what the voltage is in the country you are travelling to and make certain you get yourself an adapter for Spain.

Everybody knows that sunscreen is an essential but many people travelling from the UK forget to put some on before they disembark from the aircraft. Over the years I have met many holiday makers who have gotten very sun-burned just after arriving due to not having applied adequate protection.

My last recommendation is overlooked by many people and that is to take a useful little first aid kit. Pack a few first aid essentials including some antiseptic, plasters, bandages, dressings and pain killers. You may also want to pack some anti-malaria tablets, insect repellent and maybe some antihistamine cream for those annoyingly itchy bites.

I really hope that my my suggestions will help to ensure that people have safer and more enjoyable holidays.

It is possible for a person interested in travel and tourism to work for an airline without being war from his home. Another excellent opportunity that many graduates love is signing on with vacation charters. This means they live in places often very different from their hometown or city. This is a more personal travel and tourism opportunity as you spend much longer time periods with the customers.

Travel agencies are another field that is popular and bring great benefits for anyone employed in this field.
