When carrying valuable or electronic items it is a good idea to keep a copy of the invoice, any insurance, as well as the operating manuals when traveling.  The invoice and insurance serve as proof of ownership while the manuals come in handy with technicians if a problem occurs with the equipment.  These documents also enable you to take advantage of international warranties and service locations. 

For some countries, it is required that tourist be covered with insurance prior to entering the country. However, due to the variations of legal matters that may occur between two countries, insurance in travel is a very serious matter. You should call your insurance company and find out whether or not your current coverage extends to foreign travel. Your travel agent may also be able to help provide essential information regarding travel insurance.

Inside The Airbus A380

Emirates airlines will be using Manchester airport for their new A380 superjumbo service. Superjumbo aircraft, which can carry up to 517 passengers, will fly daily from Manchester to Dubai.

Although there have been some reliability and economy concerns associated with the A380  some say that this aircraft represents the future of flying.

Problems began for the aircraft even before its inaugural flight in 2007. Enthusiasm for the superjumo is not very high with airlines and only around 25 have been delivered since it was launched.

There are many design enhancements that should have made the A380 a popular choice with airlines. The aircraft is much quieter than comparable planes due to advanced wing and undercarriage design. It is also much more fuel efficient due to the use of weight saving composite materials and exhaust emissions are enormously reduced.

Quantas and Emirates airlines have both voiced concerns over the aircraft’s reliability in the past. Quantas had been required to ground all three of their A380 airbuses due to fuel tank indicator problems.

Many commercial airlines have suffered due to the recession. Many airlines have cancelled their orders for A380 aircraft, including Lufthansa, Virgin and Fed Ex.

Manchester airport has invested around £10 million in preparing their airfield and terminal building for the new SuperJumbos. It is anticipated that the airbus A380 will replace the existing Boeing 777, currently used for Emirates flights from Manchester.

Tim Clark, Emirates Airline president has said: “Manchester has been one of the strongest performers in our growing network of regional gateways, not only in the UK but globally. Our customers value our commitment to a regional network at a time when other airlines are abandoning them.”
